Re: Theology of Star Wars

I think people assumed that Yoda was based on SWK because Yoda was 900 years old and looks like just about every other 900 year old out there.

Re: Estimating the Chances - Women in the Priesthood

For women to have the priesthood in the traditional sense they'd eventually have to be granted something that they don't currently have, even if that something is just permission to officiate in the priesthood. Leaving it at accepting that women already have the priesthood wouldn't move the needle v...

Re: Sexual "Articles of Faith" for LDS Marital Intimacy

I feel that it is helpful for orthodox LDS couples to have a friendly source to get their questions answered, to help learn about their spouse's body and sexual responses (and their own), and lastly just to help them know that to be a sexual being is normal and healthy. I missed this comment. Yeah,...

Re: Sexual "Articles of Faith" for LDS Marital Intimacy

3 We believe God has ordained sex for the married couple. Nobody else should be involved. Funny, coming from a group of people that wrote a 130+ page document on sex. ;) I haven't read the full document, and I know it's from a LDS perspective, but lots of those articles feel like they shoehorn god,...

Re: Estimating the Chances - Women in the Priesthood

I'm going to line these guys up in order with their current ages to give people an idea of the likelihood of them actually becoming prophet some day. Russell M. Nelson(94) Dallin H. Oaks (86) M. Russell Ballard (90) Jeffrey R. Holland (78) Henry B. Eyring (85) Dieter F. Uchtdorf (78) David A. Bednar...

Re: Ministering Rules

This one is a little obscure to the topic of ministering, but it's specific language about married members of opposite gender/sex being alone: A man and a woman should not travel alone together for Church activities, meetings, or assignments unless they are married to each other or are both single. ...

Re: Ministering Rules

Your question prompted me to peruse the handbooks, and I found that they have been updated recently (moving from language about HT to language about ministering, probably updated for combined quorums too). I don't remember hearing any announcement about the change. Handbook 2 has info about minister...

Re: Rome Temple

I think one person's personal revelation can be different than another person's personal revelation because we are all unique and require different things. Not to over-trivialize with this example, but take two people that are allergic to peanuts. Person A receives revelation, inspiration, whatever ...

Re: Exposure / Apologists

1. How can you live a life that you feel is honorable and true while being an apologist? At past stops along my journey there was a point where I fit the classic definition of LDS apologist. I'd answer that apologists very much see themselves as being honorable and true to their beliefs. In fact I ...
