Re: Collateral Damage

I just struggle sometimes with how to react when people act like I just kicked their favorite pet testimony-wise. Isn't that church (or any community really) in a nutshell? Learning to get along in spite of people acting like their pet testimony was kicked and in spite of others kicking our pet tes...

Re: My Best & Worst List

It's not officially in the scriptures but it is most certainly quoted as if it were scripture, even during GC.

Probably another semantics issue. I was referring to official canon but the practiced canon is open. Essentially the exact opposite of what I was saying in that other comment.

Re: Good Men (and Women) Better . . .

We have a lot of "serious health problem issue teaching the gospel/connecting to God" rambling stories that I need to balance time for. I see a lot of this during F&T meeting. More than anything, I think it's people needing a little attention... and I don't mean that in a bad way. People have emoti...

Re: My Best & Worst List

I'll keep mine short. GOOD: When there's an actual need people generally mobilize to help. MEH: Our Sunday meetings. I don't feel like they meet my spiritual or social needs. Listening to our activation efforts, the principle reason to show up on Sunday is because "we're supposed to." That's not a v...

Re: My Best & Worst List

And now I wonder... would I want a more open canon? I bet the first thing that would go into a newly open canon would be the proclamation.

Re: My Best & Worst List

There's theory and there's practice. We have the theory of open canon but I haven't seen us leverage that. To put it into perspective, the CoC is up to section 165 in their D&C and has updates as recent as 2016. We've got the pseudo-scripture of tFaPttW. Maybe it's semantics. Many sections in the Co...

Re: Conference Favorite - Not Favorite

I was disappointed last Sunday in that we took turns reading Holland's talk during PH. I had planned on showing up in sweatpants and a t-shirt the Sunday we covered that talk (yeah, I can be juvenile. :P ) but leadership didn't announce what we'd be discussing ahead of time. It actually turned into ...

Re: Forum is filtered

Maybe because of the "Connection Is Not Secure" thing. The netnanny stuff probably filters out any site in that state. I'm seeing an error that leads me to believe it's because the certificate for the site is registered to one domain and traffic is being redirected to a different unregistered domain...

Re: What does the Book of Mormon actually teach?

What does the Book of Mormon actually teach?

That's the thread title.

We could probably move much of this discussion to a new thread.
