Re: Face Palm Sunday . . .

One thing I wish our church would do on Easter, is have sacrament meeting only and a big program. To me it’s a holiday that’s just as important as Christmas and one of the only few times we get to really focus on the Savior. Yes. This. So Perfect. I like this idea too. And less talking and more sin...

Re: Finally saying hi

Helloe TGT - I like the fact you still find it OK to hold a TR. Once you fall off that wagon things get way more complicated. If you can keep being an outward member of the community, even though inwardly you are a grey thinker, then you've solved a lot of community problems right there. I envy you...

Re: Face Palm Sunday . . .

As far as separate children's church service goes, I actually like the way we do it better. I think there is some value in sitting together as a family in church. That's just my preference though, clearly others feel differently. I agree, in general we could learn much from other churches regarding ...

Re: Face Palm Sunday . . .

I would also love to figure out a way to have some kind of post-meeting fellowship. I think that would be possible with the two-hour block now, but it would bring everyone a lot closer together and foster relationships if there was some social time to interact with ward members after the meeting. S...

Re: Collateral Damage

How does the dynamic change when it is close family members/friends (if it changes)? I think you are asking what about when it is someone close to you that seems uncomfortable with your changing of the script. This can be hard because parts of your relationship with that person may have been built ...

Re: Easter Chuckle

I ward had an Easter egg hunt that I was not part of (there are perks to not having young kids). I was told by a parent friend though that the first part of the hunt involved plastic eggs that were empty - it was that same idea, the egg is empty and so is the tomb. Whatever, I'm not sure many 6-year...

Re: Easter Chuckle

 It kind of reminds me of something I saw on the news Friday evening. It was a spot about Easter egg hunts and one local pastor (local is relative here since I live in a rural area and the TV station is in a small city some distance away) was talking about their usual helicopter drop of Easter ...

Re: Finally saying hi

Hi, welcome to the community. I'm glad you found us too. You are more fortunate than many people here in that you have your brother to talk to and that's great. I hope we can be of help and support to you and vice versa. My standard advice is take it slow, don't dump all at once, and focus on what y...

Re: Easter - credit where credit is due

I love that the new Sunday School manual paused the chapter-focused lessons and has one focused exclusively on Easter. Back in the days before faith transition when I was Gospel Doctrine teacher I used to struggle with this at Easter and at Christmas. I, too, am glad for the pause and I hope it's n...

Easter - credit where credit is due

I just wanted to acknowledge the Church's recent efforts to make Easter a bigger deal within the Church. As someone who once attended an Easter Sunday SM where no talks were about Easter, there were no Easter songs, and Easter was not even mentioned, I do appreciate that the church has made some eff...
