Re: How do I

I am at the point where nothing resonates, nothing sinks in, even those things that should. I know it's because of the way I receive teachings and comments now. Everything makes me cringe and it shouldn't. Everybody sounds so dramatic and far fetched. How do I get out of this state of mind. How do I...

Re: Chosen People

To chuckles, whenever a chosen generation thing is brought up (usually in PH) I throw out something like "I've been hearing this chosen generation thing since I joined the church as a young man in the early 1980s. How many chosen generations can there be?" I was hearing this in the 60s when I was i...

How do I

Stake pres councillor during GD "...if I ask you to speak in sacrament your answer is to the Lord. He is asking not me. You can say yes or no to him of you want. Same with callings..."

There is always that leverage.

Re: Chosen People

Conversely - my cringe moment with the Chosen People mantra runs along Tevya's line (Thank you Dande). In all of history, "The Chosen" person/people often suffer the most. I hate suffering. I don't do it well. I run from it when I can. When we sit in class and are pulling our invisible "I am Chosen...

Re: Chosen People

Other than not really believing there are chosen people, the problem I have with us being said chosen people is that it so often leads to pridefulness among some of us. While not always explicitly stated (but it is sometimes explicitly stated) I often hear that we are better than our Christian brot...

Chosen People

During GD last week it was mentioned that we were some of the chosen people which made me cringe a little, but then one upstanding fellow spoke up and exclaimed "...remember now, our missionaries are out there teaching that we are chosen people..." That made me pucker up in several different places....

Re: Sunday morning April 2018

My sidewalk has been cracked slowly but surely by church indoctrination. Oaks seems like a walking analogy machine. Maybe I should stop until I have something positive to contribute.

Re: Combining Elders and High Priests

I am far less than enthusiastic about this. There seemed to be too much creative doctorin in EQ. But then maybe that why the combining. And I finally stopped hearing every othercomment begin with "when I was on my mission...". Maybe because I didn't serve and it's a repetitive reminder. Just my unpo...

Re: Therapeutic Moment

I just wanted to share. Have you ever had those plumb moments when you get to share your complete thoughts with someone who is a member, without risk of any consequences from the formal establishment? How did it go? I am not talking about anti-Mormon thoughts, but simply about face to face sharing ...
