I desperately need advice!

Forgive me, but this is long. So here goes.. Something has been on my mind lately. I've been inactive from church more often than not, partly because of not being able to afford to buy a car to drive myself to church and also because with of my dad's health my parents normally aren't active. And bec...

Re: Conservatism and Control vs. Autonomy and Respect

This is an interesting topic. Sexuality in general throughout history, I've noticed, even with ancient Christians and prophets, has been extremely messy. And since prostitution is a sexual business, it, of course, is extremely messy. Just like the adult industry, even though I watch porn in moderati...

SamBee, you're probably right about that. Bill Reel, before he was excommunicated, said he read that book.

Re: What Does Everyone Here Think of The New Church History Book Called Saints

Thanks, Curt, for the reference to the previous thread. I forgot all about it. And, Roy, thanks for sharing with me the two accounts of Emily Partridge's plural marriage to Joseph Smith. I could see the difference in both. Thanks, everyone, for the comments. I'm finally reading No Man Knows My Histo...

What Does Everyone Here Think of The New Church History Book Called Saints

Hello, everyone. It's been awhile since I've posted away, but I'm still lurking online. I read the new book the church published called Saints. It was a lot better than I thought. It was great! However, I have some problems with the book. I love that the church is being more honest and open about it...

Re: Bill Reel about to get excommunicated? >:-(

This is a great discussion. The only thing I would like to bring up is...let's say one of us in this forum either ends up working for the leadership in Salt Lake City or gets a calling which allows any of us to be around the prophets and apostles and whoever finds out there is a good amount of corru...

Re: Finding Nuanced Believers

Thanks for giving that post from By Common Consent. I haven't used those, but in last July when my brother was driving my parents and I to the Chicago Temple Store to buy more temple garments we got into a discussion about the endowment and my brother mentioned some changes to the initiatory and the...

Re: Elder Uchtdorf as Medicine for Elder Oaks

Honestly, I used to like Oaks when I was younger. However, he's become too conservative over the years, in my opinion, and behind the scenes he's said some comments that really rubbed me the wrong way. Uchtdorf I still like a lot, even if all his talks aren't all equal in greatness.
