Re: Genetics, Family History & Adam & Eve

There are several points that come to mind for me whenever there is a discussion like this. They are: - We come from a very long line of family. Over many generations & thousands & thousands of years. The number wasn't the point. The mathematical principle of compounding numbers & time surprises me....

Re: Genetics, Family History & Adam & Eve

nibbler, I recently found out that my Wife & I are 16th cousins. Our common ancestor was born in Sharon VT. Before the Smith's arrived in the community. The 2nd part of this post is the genetic pool that comes from generations of individuals created by 2 people. Wouldn't we see more genetic defects ...

Genetics, Family History & Adam & Eve

My HT & I have been talking about FH & how the number of our ancestors compounds over time. For example: - Our parents = (2) - Our GPs = (4) - Our GGPs = (8) - Our 2nd GGps = (16) - etc. The point was, if you go back 25 generations, you have almost 17,000,000 people. This is direct line grand parent...

Re: Long Term Effects of Hometeaching -- Jack Mormons and Giving Blessings

I had an unexpected HT visit once. Two of us went to visit a single sister. She was living with her Mother at the time. We gave the lesson & like we always do, asked if there was anything we could do for them. She said the sink in the kitchen was plugged & they couldn't use the disposal. I volunteer...

Re: Long Term Effects of Hometeaching -- Jack Mormons and Giving Blessings

I know men who Home Teach regularly & they stick to the same script. Which is: - greet the family. - give the lesson. - out the door in 5 or 10 minutes max. HT & VT who visit their families that way are missing out on a lot. They could be making life long friendships. Relationships that are rich & r...

Re: Return and report about church today

Our PH opening exercises were interesting this morning. We had a visitor introduce himself & said he used to be from the inner city branch. He recognized some of the members from the branch & then sat down. (Nothing boastful or fancy.) Another member stood up & continued the rest of his story. The c...

Re: How do you reconcile Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith is a puzzle. I would love to be able to talk with him face to face & finally settle these issues. Since I can't, I have come up with my own conclusions. They are: 1. I don't worship JS. I worship Jesus Christ. 2. There isn't a Prophet, who ever lived, that was perfect. 3. The church sho...

I've been given an interesting assignment at Church

Last Sunday my HP Group Leader said he wanted me to teach the HP's. I can choose my own topic. To give you some background, our ward was reorganized about a year ago. Within our ward, we have a mixture of people from various walks of life. We have young married students, older retired members, singl...

Welcome to our group. There is another way. It is your adventure to find that way.
There are many of us who will be happy to describe what we found & now use.
I wish you the best on your journey.
