Re: Relaxing on the Rules

Because it couldn't get any better than this - the Missionaries are standing on my porch right now. No joke. It's just after 7. They may leave with their own CES letter if they aren't careful.

My husband has been very clear - call and make an appointment.

Re: Tithing Settlement

I never get hassled. I get invited. I usually turn it down. They hand me a slip of paper and let it go.

Re: Major, Positive Change to Mission Call Options

My nephew had the luxury of being called to Kazakhstan for his full time mission. Under Russian rules, the missionaries could only do service and cultural meetings. He was the second nephew to serve a mission. His older brother was in Brazil. The differences were night and day. As a bystander, the k...

Announcements - Less of?

Here is a sticky one in the new 2 hour approach - Less Announcments. Much of it I get. We can waste an entire good meeting on announcements. However without announcements some things will get lost. Such as humanitarian efforts. In my ward we have no paper bulletin. Ours is sent by email on Saturday ...

Re: Relaxing on the Rules

The following went out last night to all the wards in our Stake. From the Mission President: Beginning December first, the general authorities and area Presidents have directed that Missionaries will be responsible for their own dinners Monday through Friday. This is to allow the Missionaries to use...

Re: "Called to Serve, Not Called to Suffer"

My affections for Elder Holland go back and forth. However, he seems to creating a platform of psychological healing as of late. I really appreciate it. I know many people love him, hopefully their adoration of him will invite them to be kinder, gentler, less judgmental. If he continues in this vein...

Re: Talk input: follow the prophet

The Brigham Young Quote is my reliance right now,
"I am more afraid that this people have so much confidence in their leaders that they will not inquire for themselves of God whether they are led by Him"

Re: Faith Journey Goal Post - Long Read (You were warned)

Amy - The Prolific One?- thank you for writing, for thinking aloud, for contributing. As a viewer of your journey, I am enjoying it. I hope you will keep us in the loop. On the orderliness thing, I find my life is more tidy, organized, and smooth running when my plate is nearly too full. I don't kno...

Re: Relaxing on the Rules

Not R.E.L.A.X yet but I did post that Africa is doing church differently for families who live too far from a church or have to cross through a town that isn't safe. They are full on Home-Churching, sacrament and all. On the mission front, it is still leadership roulette. Our local mission president...

Re: "Called to Serve, Not Called to Suffer"

We have a mission president in our area who needs this. 2 different Elders have chosen to run away from the mission, because the mission president won't let them come home. I have a niece who came home early. We went out of our way to have the full "welcome home" and everything. I knew as a kid I co...
