Re: Daily Scripture Study

We aren't the only religion who stresses daily scripture study. My evangelic friends always feel the need to comment on how long they "were in the word" that day. "In the word" is scripture reading. They have regular church reading, home church reading, coffee clutch group readings and personal. We ...

Re: BYU and Cheap Tuition

Jumping on Ray's bandwagon - Education has been a part of our story since Joseph Smith. The school of the Prophets was a secular learning center. They studied science, languages, history and so on. They brought in speakers, debated articles and ideas. Kirtland Temple was also an extension of that le...

Re: So, help me figure out Home Teaching

My VT list is the women who really don't want to attend but who found it easier to say "Sure I'll have VTers." I love it. I rotate through sending a note or dropping a small gift by. I love holidays or excuses for that. I don't even knock on the door. I just leave the gift with a note and my phone n...

Re: Help talking to a spouse

I really love this. ^ This is something I have only recently started to do and it has been helpful so far. I am glad. It came to be quite by accident years before any religious upheaval hit my life. It began as a stray act one day while working through a migraine. The issues have nothing to do with...

Re: <Fingers Crossed> Pathways, Here I come!

My neighbor did Pathways and found it very helpful. The part that would be hardest for me is the required religion part. That part of the curriculum requires you to read a specific LDS article and report to someone about what you read. Her atheist dad wanted no part of it, so she would come down and...

Re: YSA Bishops Sowing Despair

Correct me if I am wrong but I get the feeling you are strong arming your GF a bit or more. Years later, after the wedding cake is gone and honeymoon is over, this maybe a problem. I am not saying you are, but if I read your typed words, she has a different feeling about things. Perhaps more guilt, ...

Thanks Ray and DJ for the broader views.

I think I will just take time and let this go. I don't know him. He didn't change correlation much. I wish his family the best.

Re: James Hamula, First Quorum of the Seventy, Excommunicated

I actually don't see why it needed to be announced at all. Quietly release him. List it publicly as emeritus status. Send any additional information where it needs to go such as a home Bishop or something. And let him and his family deal with it privately. It's not as if the church is going to sudde...
