Re: Ignorance was bliss

Fwiw, ignorance is never bliss in the fullest dictionary definition. It is comforting and laziness-inducing and easy and deflective and content, but it isn't utter joy or supreme happiness, imo. This reminds me of something my husband read on LDS reddit. (not exmo). Everyone was cheering the new Mi...

Re: Ignorance was bliss

Of all the topics discussed here, this is my favorite and I could write pages on it. I totally support everyone's comments about their place in their transition. I will add though that for my life and movement forward, I anchored in other people who had experienced extraordinary spiritual experience...

Re: Understanding Islam - Ensign Article

I did go back and read it slower. I think it is impressive considering how little we really talk about or engage in conversations about other religious traditions in our magazines or discourse. It would be cool if the Ensign suddenly had a regular feature highlighting the good and amazing in other c...

Re: Understanding Islam - Ensign Article

I already know from the get-go this article and I are going to have a problem - I don't trust the author. If he is who is name implies, he is an apologist and then some. Considering the past 2 articles in the Ensign, I am willing to be there is a new team running the show. In a way I applaud the eff...

Re: Letting Go

Here's my thoughts: -Don't remove your name from the records of the Church, if you can bare it. Keep options open. -Permit yourself to change your mind. There is no shame in being wrong, only on insisting you were right when you know otherwise. -Since you believe in Christ, but don't believe in the...

Re: "Follow the prophet, He knows the way..."

That's a tough one. I don't know your daughters mental comprehension skills. But I did find this little quote helpful in making wiggle room for prophetic infallibility. (though that is not what he intended.) He said one of the great lessons of his 93-year life is that people are God's children and h...

Re: I am an adult of God

If memory serves, that is a Hawkgrrl iteration. I've loved it from the day I heard it. Like all things balance is a key in there. Old enough to ask questions and discuss. Childlike enough to accept. Including a Faith Crisis.

Re: How to Achieve Results in Low Commitment Wards

For me, I would relish the low commitment. Seriously. Hold a few required meetings. Then I would go about being joyful and happy. Everyone gets released. They can get someone enthused if they want.

The results won't change.

Re: Spiritual Thought

Thank you Amy,

I have been displaced from my work room for the year and completely forgot about my Richard Rohr books. Thanks to you I am digging them out again. And yes - that paragraph alone has so much impact on me.
