Re: Teach them to walk in the light...

My kids were a freshman at BYU, a Sophmore/Junior in High School, and a 13 year old middle schooler when the first tsunami of transition started here. My husband was the first one down the hole. For a year or so we covered fine, but by year 2 or 3, the slide took over. Let me first say - we made it....

Re: Are we the church of the WoW?

I was reading something else and ran across the following in LDS Living - http://www.ldsliving.com/What-a-Prophet-Told-the-Marriotts-About-Serving-Alcohol-in-Their-Hotels/s/91496/?utm_source=ldsliving&utm_medium=sidebar&utm_campa J.W. still agonized over this decision in discussions with Bill, who h...

Re: Sealing waiting period policy discontinued

Just my dumb luck... I had to decide to skip going today on the one day I would have ended up being encouraged by what I heard at church. Dang Murphy's Law. ;) Like you, I am glad that someone somewhere is discussing and encouraging embracing this. I have cringed for years when someone gets up in F...

Re: Poetry Corner

I needed this ^^^ today Roy. I find it amusing that I originally posted it. But I am having a day where I need to pull through and reading it helps.

Thank you.

Re: Poetry Corner

I love this thread. Roy, thanks for all the additions. I had forgotten them. I do have a copy of Curt's daughter's poem. I remember when it was first posted.

Re: Extremely Rough Sacrament Meeting

I am so glad you shared this. Not because you deserved it, but even wards we love can get stuck. Ours was really lovely, but in January we went through a month of horrific. Ours were more geared to "people leaving the church" or "who had been offended". I can't even find words. I finally mentioned i...

Re: Abuse Prevention Training Required to Work with Youth

So, while I do believe the majority will actually do the 15 minute thing, it now occurs to me that it is possible some will do it to be done and will get nothing out of it. I am so trying not to soapbox on this. I am also trying to see potential and not swamp the good that could come. However, we a...

Re: Abuse Prevention Training Required to Work with Youth

Curt - You and I are often on the same page, today not. In a time when other churches do background checks as a regular practice, the "it's too much on the church" is a lame excuse. For every single community service project we have to engage in, short of picking up trash in the park, our members "b...

Re: Abuse Prevention Training Required to Work with Youth

Something is better than nothing I guess. I have been very aware of it over the past few days before we even posted it here. For me this isn't a "something" issue. This is where "Good, Better, Best" should apply. For the safety of both parties. I was slow to respond in real life because I had a lot...
