Re: Denver Snuffer Update

I admit I'm surprised by this latest turn. I took him at his word that he was not trying to lead a movement. But then, all I've seen online are Tim Malone's notes so until I read the text (if I read it) of his remarks, I'm going to presume he's talking about people organizing to take care of one ano...

Re: How to Spot Possible Members of the "StayLds Ward?"

If you are authentic and make comments that aren't the standard answers, they will come to you, I swear. Until your comments make people uncomfortable. Then they will crucify you. Oh, the baddies will find you too, but so will the allies. That's my experience, too. I'm finding a few like minded peo...

Re: A little talk advice, please?

Finally, just to emphasize something we tend to miss, the ninety-nine outnumber the one not just mathematically but naturally, as well - and it's pointless to complain about something that is a natural and mathematical given. It also is heartless to wish more people were among "the lost" just to ev...

Re: A little talk advice, please?

As an aside - I don't believe the LDS model works well for broken people . They will always be lacking and insufficient. I believe the LDS model works best for people who are logical, goal oriented, "do-it-yourselfers" or at the very least are good at hiding their inadequacies. Roy, I don't accept ...

Re: Only one path to God

MnG: Do not try and find the right path. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth?
MnG: There is only one path.
Neo: There is only one path?
MnG: Then you'll see, that it is never the path that is wrong, it is only one's direction.

Re: Did God really help you find a boat?

Dark Jedi, I'm not convinced "some people really need that" when it comes to immature and possibly very incorrect interpretations of God and the gospel. I think building any kind of testimony on "the God of lost car keys" is like pouring the foundation for a house over a sinkhole. When things don't ...

Re: Did God really help you find a boat?

So I wrote the previous comment when I was rushing out the door and didn't finish my thought... (and being busy is why I rarely post. Doh!) It's not that I don't believe God loves us or cares. I do. It's that I believe we have a weak understanding of how God works in this world and our explanations ...

Re: Did God really help you find a boat?

Reminds me of a conference talk - don't remember who it was right now but this apostle (Neil L. Anderson maybe?) was in med/grad school and was hungry walking/biking home one day. God helped him find a quarter on the ground so he could buy a piece of chicken. Too bad there aren't more quarters on th...
