Re: The New Inactives - Seniors

I think there are many members of the Church from all demographics going inactive. I always supposed those who had been committed to the gospel their whole lives, would remain active according to their health. Or at least more likely to remain active. Dad worked as a merchant marine and was away fr...

Re: The New Inactives - Seniors

I have heard that a number of the older ladies will refuse calling in primary because they have already done their "time".

In some ways church participation can be like a job. We should not be surprised when people choose to retire.

Re: How do I

For the level of certainty, the spectrum runs Gnostic (I know concerning God) <-> Agnostic (I don't know concerning God). It could be said that one cannot "know" concerning God - however, that would be an ironic point coming from a Mormon. "...if I ask you to speak in sacrament your answer is...

Re: Does Programmed Service Build Community?

Having meals brought over makes me feel cared for and part of the ward community. I appreciate that my family has home and visiting teachers that I can reach out to. I do not need monthly visits, but I do know who they are and I am assertive enough to contact them when there is a need. The better so...

Re: What does it mean to council?

I am still confused about what it means to council. I will throw out some possibilities and I would like some feedback. 1) A planning meeting to make plans/future decisions for the non-council Sundays. This could be where teaching assignments are discussed... also the content of what should be taugh...

Re: When a GA Listens: or, Presiding in the Home

So - a random thought popped into my head. The principles I have identified for the exercise of priesthood authority are more understandable and more comfortable for a married woman than for a single woman, especially a single woman who has never been married. She does not now experience priesthood ...

Re: Coping With Previous Sexual History of a Spouse

whatnow, I am so very pleased that you have found some help and the medication is helping. I didn't did that for my future husband, I did it for me, and for the Lord. And being clean and pure made me happy, and save me from much sorrow. What a beautiful sentiment. I love that. I have found the song ...
