Re: Power vs Authority
There was an interview in 2013 with Sheri Dew that was interesting. 1) she said: "One of the painful things about not marrying at a traditional age is not having children. I had an experience, related to being single and not a mother, with one of the senior Brethren that was hard to take. The e...

Re: Power vs Authority
There appears to be a little bit of confusion because we use the word priesthood power and priesthood authority interchangeably in many respects. In the April 2014 General Conference, Dallin H. Oaks said, “We are not accustomed to speaking of women having the authority of the Priesthood in their Chu...

Re: What exactly is a spiritual experience?
I hopeto get more input from others here yet. I am not sure how many members are in staylds. Maybe there are just a handful of us! We're pretty new, and just getting started. Keep the hope and faith alive! Seeing this quote from Brian makes me all nostalgic. MM, I too have had spiritual experiences...

Come Back Podcast
Come Back Podcast https://www.comebackpodcast.org/ I am not much of a podcast person. I did come across this podcast while reading up on the LDS purchase of the Kirtland Temple on Deseret News. https://www.deseret.com/2024/2/26/24059906/do-latter-day-saints-come-back-to-church/ Both of the leaders o...

Re: LDS purchase of Kirtland Temple
I love the affectionate description of the Brighamite faction as "Prairie Cousins."

LDS purchase of Kirtland Temple
The LDS church has purchased the original Kirtland temple, the mansion house in Nauvoo, and several other properties and artifacts from the Community of Christ for an undisclosed sum.

Re: Callings you've had or might have or will never have in your life.
Once in SS the teacher was a former mission president that I know fairly well and respect. His lesson included how local church leaders make mistakes and should be extended grace. He was sharing about how often the ward leader is doing his best and left to his own best judgment in running the ward. ...

Re: Callings you've had or might have or will never have in your life.
Why does it seem that the church culture is: you cannot say NO to a calling? Or, you cannot feel guilty when someone asks you to do them a "favor" in their calling? I think that we as a church have taught that 1) we have all made covenants (starting at baptism) to consecrate all out time,...

Re: Callings you've had or might have or will never have in your life.
Over my adult lifetime, there are the pre-faith crisis callings and the post faith crisis callings. Before the faith crisis, I enjoyed being part of a presidency. I have been a counselor in the YM and EQ presidencies. I am not much of a leader but can be a great and loyal sidekick. The rest of these...

Re: Refreshing talk in SM today
Thank you!
I think I'll write about it sometime. The bishop and the LDS church members of the ward were really great to work with. Some of our LDS family were not very tactful but I don't want that to overshadow the support received from the ward.
