Re: Ward treating us like we're inactive?

I would call my family less active. 1) We hold a calling on Wednesday nights as co-bear den leaders. 2) I work on Sundays and am able attend church about once every 8 weeks. 3) My wife and children attend roughly every other week. 4) My son has mild autism and detests primary music/sharing time. The...

Re: Faith promoting stories

Maybe it's because I lost my mom when I was 18, but I've lost my pair of rose-colored glasses when it comes to miracles. That's not to say that they can't happen. I believe they can. It just depends on if our Father in Heaven wants it to happen. I too have had to reevaluate how I perceive blessings...

Re: God's Law vs Man's Law Paradox

Recognizing that God's law changes (Law of Moses, Word of Wisdom, Polygamy, to name a few examples) it's fair to say that in the hereafter we may be existing with individuals who all lived under various sets of commandments. I have thought about this sometimes. In the history of our scriptures (OT,...

Re: God's Law vs Man's Law Paradox

My initial reaction is that the Bermuda twin's intent to break the law (and belief that he had carried it out) would have an impact upon his character. Similarly if someone where in a virtual reality similar to the "Matrix" movie, they could commit many "thought sins" where the individual chose and ...

As Sam Bee demonstrates, some European nations generally tend to take privacy much more seriously than the united states and tend to impose additional restrictions on data gathering.

Re: David Bokovoy on Mormon Stories

Many things in Mormonism were around in some form long before. The dispensation theory is no different. Wikipedia says that there were some groups that believed in it dating to around the same time as the dead sea scrolls. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dispensationalism

Re: David Bokovoy on Mormon Stories

fascinating! I personally wonder if JS thought that the BoA is what Abraham would have said or if JS needed an ancient source for his theology to have credibility. One of the things that "Misquoting Jesus" explores is that new religions often lay claim to old beliefs, prophecies, and scriptures but ...

Re: David Bokovoy on Mormon Stories

I am curious how Bokovoy's critical analysis might be similar or different than that in the book "Misquoting Jesus" that dealt with the NT. Is Bokovoy applying the same techniques to the the OT? viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1507&hilit=misquoting+jesus

Re: The Quest for Constant Joy

I believe that some people are naturally more positive. My daughter is like this. She is remarkably resilient and not brought down by other's opinions. OTOH she also does not seem to understand the concept of remorse and contrition - she literally just does not seem to feel bad. I do believe that th...
