Re: Coming Back into Church after Name Removal when Things went not well

Well , im just curious about why some outsider from other Christian Faiths or even an Moslem or Jew and especially Non-Believing People would have then the desire to get baptised to Our Church when there especially mayn christian churches outside where they maybe will integrated better. People join...

Re: How Candid are you with Non-Members about the church?

On Saturday I had a Spanish discussion with Jehovah's Witnesses who knocked on the door. I suppose I get defensive of the JW's around my Mormon acquaintances. I believe it is because we are keen to pick on their odd doctrines while ignoring (or proclaiming) our own. Yes, JW's have several points of...

Re: Staying for my wife

I can’t help but feel guilty that I don’t believe anymore. I feel like I have failed my wife and family. These feelings are not coming from my wife, she has been extremely understanding during this whole process. She has been so patient and willing to work with me through my faith crisis. Even thou...

Re: Hi!

Welcome Tica, There is much fear involved for the spouse of someone faltering in the faith. First I would make your husband aware that you love your life together and remain 100% committed to him - tell him and show him. Your feelings about the temple are not your feelings about him OR how much you ...

Re: Coming Back into Church after Name Removal when Things went not well

I agree with what has been written. We LDS can be pretty poor at continuing the friendship and support for new converts / reactivation. Like Nibbler said, I think much of this has to do with everyone just being busy with their own lives and is usually not intentional. Also in the church we have a mo...

Re: How to Resolve Feelings of Intellectual Dishonesty

But one way to look at it is that the LDS church really can bless the lives of some people. The church is positioned to fill that spiritual gap in their lives. I think the mistake we make as a church is in assuming that the church is for everyone . Maybe the mistake we make on the other side is in ...

Re: Young Sheldon

I found the sketch to be inaccurate in some of the details and perhaps the strangest description of our religion ever given.

It made it look like Mormons are weird and sexist, which we are - but not significantly more so than other religions.

Re: How Candid are you with Non-Members about the church?

When talking to non-members / non-investigators I describe the church from a secular standpoint. "Sure, we have some weird beliefs but we also have a strong support community that believes in clean living, hard work, and helping each other out in hard times." Recently I was asked about the WoW. I di...

Re: Negative Consequences of Excommunication to the Church

I believe that in the case of the September 6, the excommunications were to mark the works and writings of those individuals to be unacceptable and have real consequences. It served as a huge warning to many in the academic and journalism community. It also serves as a red flag for any unsuspecting ...

Re: How to Resolve Feelings of Intellectual Dishonesty

To start, I think defining intellectual dishonesty (or "authenticity") is important. Are you intellectually dishonest when you try to present yourself in the best light on a first date? How about when you do not want to go on a date but do not want to hurt the askers feelings? I personally am fairly...
