Re: Spiritual Anchors

. I have often wondered if the Mountain Meadows Massacre is a historical instance of Milgram's experiment
Or in fact part of a long chain leading back to Boggs, Haun's Mill and the people who bullied JS back in his home state.

Re: Disingenuous, Apathetic, and Aloof

Regarding the theophany thing... Mormonism is essentially the weird kid at school who tries and overcompensates for their eccentricity and ends up being less interesting in the process. Re: Would you want to be a leader in the celestial kingdom?

I really don't think the afterlife is going to be much like this place in form or content. But JS or the D&C said the same sociality that exists here on earth will exist in Heaven.... I think JS had an interesting view of the afterlife, but he contradicts himself on this IMHO. I can see how familie...

Re: Would you want to be a leader in the celestial kingdom?

In general the idea of God being a 'King' makes sense coming from a society where the king was the ultimate Authority. A friend of mine - a Catholic no less - thinks all this talk of our lord (and our lady in his tradition) derives directly from feudalism. Low Protestantism has a God who is quite r...

As an active home teacher I appreciate the change. We really needed less box ticking.

Why do I like this version of Heaven?

Sitting around verbally praising God eternally would be Hell for me - as the praiser or as God, frankly.
As a literal representation, yes, but I don't think that was ever intended.
