Re: I dont have a temple recommend.

In order to goto the temple my church said I need to attend church every Sunday for a year. It's too hard, pretty much impossible. I'm not a crowd person. Going where there are tons of people gathered, is like information overload to my senses. I get extreme anxiety and need to leave for air. Atten...

Re: The Value of Accumulating Luxuries

I've always thought it would be interesting to accumulate wealth in the first part of your life & spend the last half giving it away to worthy causes or trying to solve problems in the world. Similar to the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation. Better maybe to have one third struggling, one third thrivi...

Re: Masonry and Metaphor

There are some decent British documentaries on this subject available online. I agree that the American ones tend to be full of trash. I have a good friend who is a Mason and he tells me a lot about what goes on in the lodges, and he's shown me his apron and regalia etc. He is not in good standing (...

Re: New Sunday Worship

I get hundreds of emails every day. And the information only very occasionally goes on there. Sometimes tried and tested is best.

As for social media, most of that is just a form of m*sturbation and narcisssism. Very hard to keep track of anything on it.

Re: New Sunday Worship

I had to look up what burlap was. Is it that stuff that gets put on wall panels? If so our local temple has some but none of the chapels round here.

Re: Do you consider Church attendance mandatory for everyone?

Technically, in our theology salvation is a gift to all who are born, except the few Children of Perdition, for their premortal choice. Exaltation is different. Just sayin'. ;) Our religion makes a close approach to universalism, but then goes and undoes that a bit with exaltation and Degrees of Gl...

Re: Do you consider Church attendance mandatory for everyone?

Many are a mixture, but some are very, very divergent on certain issues. You have some churches which marry off gays and have long before governments did, and then you have Westboro and others who think gays are the Devil's Spawn. Then you have the churches which cheerlead for the military or at lea...

Re: Do you consider Church attendance mandatory for everyone?

For myself, I've grown to love an an old Hindu/Buddhist saying that used to bug me SO MUCH on my mission. "There are many paths to God." This reminds me of the saying I heard a lot in the South: Person shows their arm and hand, and says that like the fingers point together to form the arm, all chur...

Stepford Wives (2004)

I really hated the idea of this film at the time. After all, I'd seen the original which is a classic and a spooky one at that. Since the Stepford Wives' secret was pretty much out before the film, I don't feel guilty telling you the wives are robots, anymore than a little boy sees dead people in an...

Re: New Sunday Worship

. Other churches chapels are available during the week if someone wants to have quiet communion with God. Only people who have keys can do that in our church. Usually those people are super busy and you can't borrow the keys. This is the subject of an entire different thread but compared to other c...
