Re: New Video Format of Temple Endowment

I'm not a fan personally. I believe part of the motivation is that this format will work better with presentations in multiple languages, whose dialog will vary greatly in length. A shame really, because the film is the only part of the endowment, I enjoy rather than endure to the end. I used to enj...

Re: New LDS hymnbook

Most people are not aware of this survey and no deadline has been given. I have never heard it announced. Also it only applies to the English hymnbook. About a year ago it was in church news and was prominently on the website. It's still on the site but you have to look for it. Here's a link to the...

Re: A Woman in a Man's Church

if they are shamed by others for their "unmanly" behavior, the result can be toxic masculinity, a twisted version of masculinity in which violence, aggression and competitiveness are the yardsticks for success. Instead men are regularly shamed for their manly side these days and handed phrases like...

Re: Sealing waiting period policy discontinued

Sorry this may not be terribly relevant. I remember right after the revelation granting black people the priesthood the Church News editorial (Mconkie, I believe) was about the folly of interracial marriage. I don’t remember how often or long such counsel persisted, or even that it did publicly. Bu...

Re: And the fruits of coffee are . . .

I just read an article saying that more than 6 cups of coffee per day begins to have negative effects on the cardiovascular system. Moderation is still appropriate. https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/health-news/this-is-exactly-how-much-coffee-is-safe-to-drink-every-day-according-to-science/ar-AABiQQ...

Re: More than enough

The ceremonies are very wrote, with a lot of "deep" symbolism and metaphors that, being honest, no one really understands. It has a lot of "repeat after me" sections, and secret signs and tokens, all of which we are told, somehow enable us to be with our families forever. Don't know what you mean b...

Re: More than enough

I still give tithing, or at least I consider it to be tithing. I just don't give it to the church. I donate to charities that I feel truly need it and will use it for a good cause. I also donate to fast offerings, because I like that the money helps people locally. The church wouldn't consider me a...

Re: Ideas for Sacrament Meeting

I always maintain church isn't supposed to be torture. Even if you do think it's true. Paid clergy are no guarantee of better entertainment, trust me. LDS talks are no worse than the sermons in many churches. Well... you either need to offer a good service (i.e. be entertaining, engaging, effective...
