If something could have happened either way how is that a prayer answered? The scriptures are full of dramatic events in response to prayer. But in...

Re: Do you ever feel forgiven?

One day i realized all the anguish over perceived sins was not helping. The notion of repentance is a concept I avoid. I just try to live by the golden rule and leave it at that.

Re: Why God cares so much about car keys

I would define a miracle as something that happens beyond coincidence. An amputee growing an arm back, or asteroid hurling toward earth being deflected at the last moment. If something would have or could have happened anyway its coincidence not a miracle. Correlation does not mean causation It is s...

Wouldn't it be easier just to tell us?

Why would we want to worship a god who hides and lets is suffer. Makes no sense Maybe God does expect us to worship. Maybe instead of the "sovereign God" who sees us as servants and expects worship, God really is the loving parent God LDS theology alludes to (Givens's God who weeps)? What if God ca...

Re: How will the Church change in light of the Covid Virus?

Short of a vaccine it seems we are just delaying the inevitable. Eventually it will run its course. It may be ugly but there is no good answer. Shutting everything down has a host of issues every bit as dangerous. I think the church is correct open with caution

Re: Just how necessary is all this?

Any organization will impose more and more hoops to jump through in an attempt to squeeze a little more compliance from its members. We see this in many corporations where middle management sends down edicts of conformance, to justify the need for their existence. The church is no different. The mor...

Re: Kirby on why church is OK despite its flaws

I understand going for social reasons, or reasons other than the doctrine. However i do not think you can brush aside all the nonsense the church has been pushing. That does cause real damage in lives.

Re: An unintended "consequence" of home church?

Faithful members are finding out what those who left already knew. Less Mormon church is better. When you are in control of your Sundays, not you Sundays controlling you, you tend to be happier.
