It was... disheartening.
Yeah. It hurts. I like President Nelson, but there are just some things he says that bother me a lot.

Re: Is It Arrogant to Pray?

Was watching Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee this morning on Netflix. It was the episode where Jerry Seinfeld spends the morning with Ricky Gervais. The topic of religion came up in a roundabout way and Ricky started telling Jerry that he doesn't ever pray. He said that it makes him feel arrogant....

Re: I'm going to jail!

I can't help but think of Matt 25:36 ...I was in prison and ye came unto me. I always wondered how a person could do this or have the opportunity to do it. I'm glad the church has a program like this. If it doesn't help the inmate it's nice to know it's helping you. Please continue to report back. ...

Re: I'm going to jail!

As luck would have it.. A nice lady I help with her congregation's Facebook page posted this.. She does Prison Ministry as well. She got an email from an inmate with a prayer.. Needless to say, as someone who has done wrong and needing a pick-me-up to forgive myself, this was the message I needed. ...

Re: Birthday Celebration

It's kind of funny, but when President Hinckley turned 95, they had a similar celebration for him. I attended and saw nothing wrong with it. This was in 2005. I'm not sure why, but it really bugged me that we did the same thing for President Nelson. I guess I'm just getting old and cynical, because ...

Re: Kirby is the best

I love Robert Kirby, too, but I don't love the Salt Lake Tribune and don't want to pay $8 per month for a digital subscription to it. This means I was unable to read the story in your link. Would you mind summarizing it? Also, I know that "the Trib" suspended Kirby about a year ago for an interactio...

Re: This is a dumb question. I'm going to ask it anyway.

In the olden days, 1970 - 1985, when someone in the ward died, the Relief Society would go the Undertaker & dress the body with the temple robes, etc. Does that still happen today? Just curious. I don't think this happens much in Utah any more. There are so many LDS-owned funeral homes and LDS fune...

Re: Sealing waiting period policy discontinued

What really, really, really bugs me, though, is that if I (just your regular old lay member of the Church) had had the audacity to say the same thing even a few months ago, I would have had everybody within the sound of my voice telling me that I needed to humble myself and listen to the council of ...

Re: Sealing waiting period policy discontinued

Today was our Stake Conference. Those of us who serve at the metro jail were supposed to be down there early today so that we could teach our classes before heading to Stake Conference. Even though we were home in time to attend conference, I chose not to. My husband went without me. When I asked hi...
